The Artreach programme will be delivered during 2010-2011, providing arts workshops for adults with learning disabilities in the Stirling and rural areas.  The Artreach programme will be led by musician Claire Docherty, visual artist Sharon Quigley and drama artist Kat Wilson.

    The project will focus on:-

    • Establishing new groups
    • 1-2-1 approaches
    • Collaborative practice
    • Increasing social interaction, decision making and well- being
    • Increasing communication and developing new skills
    • Exhibition and performance development

The project was launched with three taster sessions- two at the Riverbank Centre in Stirling on July 1st, and one at McLaren leisure centre in Callander on July 2nd.  Around 70 adults with learning disabilities attended over the three sessions and were given the opportunity to try out a short workshop in each of the offered art forms- drama, music and visual art, as well as having the chance to meet the Artreach team and talk about the kind of arts workshops they would like to see happening in the future.

The Artreach programme is now being developed by Claire, Kat and Sharon based on the feedback from the taster sessions.  We aim to provide a variety of drama, music and visual art workshops in different locations throughout Stirlingshire… more information on workshops will be available shortly.
