Arts and Young People
Our work is focussed in schools with children with complex needs in Stirling and children with emotional and social needs in Falkirk, supporting learning and creativity in the curriculum. We work to support transitions and social inclusion in the settings, with one project noted as an HMIE example of good practice. Recent work has included Stories on Safari, a project supported by Arts and Business and Blairdrummond Safari and Adventrure Park. We also work in acute hospital settings with vulnerable children.

‘Artlink Central Creative Leavers’
Opens their second Exhibition at
The Gallery on the Corner, Edinburgh
Exhibition runs from 4th May until 28th May
This exhibition features a selection of the work produced by participants in ‘Artlink Central Creative Leavers’, part of a partnership programme, ‘Arts & Transition’, with Stirling Council Children’s Services. Following the fantastic success of last year’s exhibition, where 11 out of 13 works were sold, this year’s Creative Leavers hope to follow in their predecessor’s footsteps.
The project involved chosen Stirling High School leavers, with additional support needs, who have shown an aptitude for art/craft whilst at school, working with professional artists from Artlink Central on a one to one basis to help them take their own individual creativity forward into adulthood. Participants created new work and portfolios which they will be able to use to showcase their individual artistic abilities in transition to future settings e.g. college.
Workshops took place in the school setting once a week for approximately two hours over seven weeks and also included a day outing to provide inspiration. Visits undertaken included, amongst others, the Gallery of Modern Art / Dean Gallery, the Edinburgh Dungeons and the Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park.
